“Clean technologies for sustainable environment – waters, waste, energy for circular economy“ (Clean&Circle) for creation and development of a Centre of Competence

During the period from March 30 to April 9, a specialized training program for interns from the Republic of Kazakhstan—representatives of ministries, administrative structures, and PhD students—was held at Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.”

The program was carried out under the leadership of Vice-Rector Prof. Dr. Madlen Danova, with the active participation of the Al-Farabi Scientific, Educational and Cultural Center at the university, as well as leading lecturers from various faculties.

The following units took part in the implementation of the training: the Faculty of Classical and Modern Philology, the Faculty of Philosophy, the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration, the Center of Competence “Clean Technologies for Sustainable Environment – Water, Waste, Energy for Circular Economy” Clean&Circle, and the GATE Institute.

The training program focused on key aspects of sustainable development, including: specifics of public and business administration, digitalization processes, modern approaches to environmental protection, and innovative solutions for sustainable resource management.

The interns visited the high-tech laboratories of Clean&Circle, where they became acquainted with: modern scientific infrastructure, developed technologies and innovative solutions, and protected intellectual products with potential for transfer to business.

Particular interest was generated by topics related to: production and control of clean water, wastewater treatment, and energy generation from biomass.

Within the framework of the program, a Memorandum of Partnership was signed between the Center of Competence Clean&Circle and the Al-Farabi Scientific, Educational and Cultural Center. The agreement lays the foundation for joint initiatives and synergy in the field of sustainable development, bringing together:
science, education, culture, and business.

At the end of the program, Prof. Dr. Madlen Danova welcomed the participants and presented certificates to the successfully graduated interns.
