MEWT is an enterprise of Sofia Municipality specialized in implementation of activities and services for collection and treatment of municipal waste to obtain a minimal amount of waste for disposal by landfilling; recovery of recycling materials; production of modified fuel fractions (RDF); biogas production and its usage for energy purposes; and production of compost. Its contribution to the project is targeted training and interdisciplinary qualification of technologists and biotechnologists in SWTP and Sofia Municipality as well as introducing innovations in state-of-the-art technologies for waste collection, transformation and recovery, and water purification, such as improving the technologies for obtaining biogas from food waste, improvement of the resulting compost and its transformation into bio fertilizer enriched with micro- and macro-elements, introduction of automated system for control of methanogenesis, etc.

Sofiyska Voda JSC is established in October 2000 under a 25-year concession contract. According to it, Sofia Municipality delegated to the company the exploitation and maintenance of the water supply and sewerage system in Sofia. The share capital is distributed between the Sofia Municipality and the French company Veolia. The company is responsible for the water supply, sewerage, purification of drinking water and wastewater on the territory of Sofia Municipality. Its activities include: operation, maintenance and management of 3814 km of water network and 1677 km of sewerage network, four water treatment plants and one wastewater treatment plant. This partner will point out critical water cycle issues that will be addressed at a high science and technology level. It will also provide resources to perform tasks in the water and sludge sectors and will support the periphery of the Clean & Circle ecosystem.

INTERPLAST BG Ltd. is a Bulgarian company trading raw recycling materials and re-granules. The company owns a recycling line for hard and soft plastics. In the recent years the company has enlarged its activity by trading baled non-metal waste materials thus becoming the biggest waste plastics merchant wholesaler in Bulgaria. It has a central base in Sofia as well as several logistic warehouses around the country. Its activity is closely related to the big waste generators in Bulgaria like different centres, warehouses, municipal and private terrains for waste collection, depots for waste separation and pre-treatment, and plants and enterprises of different economic fields. Its role in Clean & Circle is to point out problems, provide information, provide base and waste test materials for test laboratory and pilot transformation in construction materials and valuable resources.

Energy Agency - Plovdiv was established in 2000 under the SAVE program of the European Commission. It carries out applied research, develops energy, environmental and socio-economic models, analyzes and forecasts, programs and action plans, concepts and projects of municipalities. Performs feasibility studies on sustainable energy and climate change, attracts investment, provides expert advice and consultations, promotes energy efficiency and renewable energy. In Clean & Circle it will support the development of pilot technologies for biogas production, waste characterization, energy efficiency in the water supply network, water purification technologies, etc. by providing information, practical cases and ideas from the region of Plovdiv and nationally.

Leader in the field of solid waste treatment and its transformation into valuable raw materials. Its role in the project is joint development of technologies for obtaining construction materials from waste, jointly conducting research fora and promotion of the Clean&Circle activities in the European research and business area.
