The teams from the University of Forestry and the “Plasma Technologies” Laboratory at the Clean&Circle Centre of Competence held a working meeting on 23 January 2026 at the Clean&Circle building, located on the campus in the Lozenets district of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski.” The meeting was part of the planned activities aimed at strengthening the partnership between the research organizations and coordinating their joint research efforts within the framework of the project.
The main focus of the discussions was the implementation of Activity 1.2 “Plasma Technologies: Addressing Critical Challenges in Water Treatment,” which is part of Work Package 1 “Circular Solutions in the Water Sector: Control, Management and Innovative Technologies.” The participants discussed the progress of the ongoing experimental research, the application of plasma technologies for the removal of persistent organic pollutants and microcontaminants, as well as opportunities to optimize the processes in order to enhance the energy efficiency and sustainability of the developed solutions.
During the meeting, interim results from laboratory tests were presented, the identified technical challenges were analyzed, and possible approaches for overcoming them through an integrated approach and exchange of expertise were discussed. Special attention was given to the harmonization of analytical methodologies and the coordination in the use of the research infrastructure.
