“Clean technologies for sustainable environment – waters, waste, energy for circular economy“ (Clean&Circle) for creation and development of a Centre of Competence

Between May 29–31, 2025, representatives of the Clean&Circle Center of Competence conducted an intensive working visit to the city of Konya, Turkey, with the goal of expanding international scientific cooperation and showcasing Bulgarian scientific expertise in the fields of sustainable development, circular economy, and clean technologies.

The visit was organized in connection with the team’s participation in the 8th International Congress on Food, Agriculture, and Veterinary Sciences, held at the Konya Food and Agriculture University. The international forum took place thanks to the collaboration between the IKAD Institute, represented by Dr. Mustafa Latif Emek, Prof. Dr. Erol Turan, Rector of the University, and the team of Prof. DSc Pavlina Dolashka, representing Clean&Circle. All Bulgarian delegates – Prof. DSc Pavlina Dolashka, Prof. Dr. Lyudmila Velkova, and Alexandra Stankova – are active researchers and representatives of the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, working within Clean&Circle.

Meeting with the leadership of KTO Karatay University and business representatives – May 29, 2025

On May 29, the Clean&Circle delegation, together with Mr. Atabek Movlyanov – general coordinator of IKAD – held an official meeting with Prof. Dr. Fevzi Rifat Ortach, Rector of KTO Karatay University. The university has deep historical roots – it was founded in 1251 and restored in 2009. It currently educates over 9,000 students, including cadet pilots from various countries. During the meeting, opportunities for academic exchange and joint scientific projects were discussed.

On the same day, another important working meeting took place between representatives of Clean&Circle and Omer Faruk Ekisi from the company Lidder, Dr. Hatice Kobra Kara – PhD student at Konya Food and Agricultural University, and IKAD coordinator Atabek Movlyanov. The main topic of the meeting was cooperation in the field of ecology and sustainable technologies related to the Center of Competence’s project.

On May 30, the Clean&Circle delegation, together with representatives of IKAD, met with Prof. Dr. Osman Nuri Çelik, Rector of Konya Technical University – a leading educational institution with over 12,000 students. That same day, the Bulgarian delegation also held a working meeting with Prof. Dr. Hidayet Oğuz, Vice-Rector of Necmettin Erbakan University (NEÜ) in Konya, Turkey. During the meetings, Prof. DSc Pavlina Dolashka presented the activities of the Clean&Circle Center of Competence, highlighting progress on various projects, including the ERASMUS+ program project: 2023-1-BG01-KA220-HED-000155777 "Cooperation Partnership for Digital Higher Education in Integrated Omics for Environmental Sustainability". Specific partnership opportunities, exchange of best practices, and joint project initiatives were discussed.

Throughout the entire visit, the Clean&Circle team demonstrated its expertise and strong commitment to applied scientific work in the field of sustainable development. In all meetings, the main focus was on discussing opportunities for future joint projects between Clean&Circle and partner institutions from Turkey, with the clear goal of building a stable foundation for long-term collaboration in support of science, innovation, and society.
