“Clean technologies for sustainable environment – waters, waste, energy for circular economy“ (Clean&Circle) for creation and development of a Centre of Competence

On 26 November 2025, the Open Day “Discover Clean&Circle” was held, providing an opportunity for a wide range of visitors – representatives of the academic community, business, public institutions, and students – to become closely acquainted with the modern laboratories, experimental zones, and high-tech infrastructure developed in the fields of clean technologies, the circular economy, and sustainable resource management. The event aimed to promote scientific achievements and the practical applications of innovations developed within the Clean&Circle initiative.

Particularly strong interest among the guests was generated by the laboratories for waste treatment, proteomic analysis, and liquid chromatography at the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry – BAS. Visitors had the opportunity to explore the modern equipment, high technological standards, and world-class scientific research carried out there, as well as the possibilities for interdisciplinary cooperation and knowledge transfer into practice.

Within the framework of the event, commemorative plaques were ceremonially presented to the Vice-Rector of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski,” Prof. Dr. Stoyan Shishkov, and to the Director of the Institute of Organic Chemistry with Centre of Phytochemistry – BAS, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Kalina Alipieva, in recognition of their significant contribution to the establishment, consolidation, and development of these innovative laboratories, as well as for their active support of the advancement of scientific infrastructure and sustainable research in Bulgaria.
