Project

“Clean technologies for sustainable environment – waters, waste, energy for circular economy“ (Clean&Circle) for creation and development of a Centre of Competence

On October 7, 2025, the Center of Competence “Clean&Circle”, a partner of Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, welcomed a delegation from the Rector’s leadership of the International University of Astana, Kazakhstan. The occasion for the visit was the official signing of an agreement between the two universities to launch a joint double-degree Master’s program in Eco-Management. The “Clean&Circle” Center, as an innovative research and educational complex in the field of clean technologies and circular economy, will play an active role in the training of students in the new program. During the visit, the guests became acquainted with the Center’s modern laboratories and high-tech equipment, as well as with opportunities for joint scientific projects and PhD training.

Before that, the delegation met with the management of the Faculty of Biology of Sofia University, visited scientific and teaching laboratories, as well as the other Center of Competence “BioResources”. The foreign guests were impressed by the facilities for students and doctoral researchers — the cultural heritage buildings of the University Rectorate and the Faculty of Biology, and the innovative technological center Clean&Circle, equipped with state-of-the-art instruments for scientific research in clean technologies and environmental management.
