Dear students, colleagues, partners, and eco-conscious citizens, our PROMISCES project is entering its third and final phase.
We are proud to share some of the key achievements we have reached so far:
🔬 Development of new analytical methods: We have created and tested ten targeted methods for analyzing 57 different PFAS compounds in various environments, including surface and groundwater, drinking water, landfill leachate, sludge, and soil.
🧪 Innovation in purification technologies: We have developed and demonstrated new technologies to remove PFAS and other persistent pollutants from soil, sludge, groundwater, wastewater, and drinking water. These technologies include chemical processes, the use of non-Newtonian fluids for extraction, and enzymatic biological treatment.
🌍 Modeling and risk assessment: We have developed models to simulate the spread of PFAS in different environments and to assess risks to human health. These models help support informed decision-making for pollution management.
🤝 International collaboration: Seven case studies were successfully conducted across various European countries, including Germany, Spain, Italy, Bulgaria, and France, strengthening our cooperation and knowledge exchange at the international level.
📈 Support for the circular economy: Our efforts contribute to the transition toward a circular economy by identifying and implementing sustainable solutions for managing chemical pollution in soil-water systems.
We thank everyone for their support and look forward to the final stage of the project, where we will continue to work for a cleaner and more sustainable environment.
