“Clean technologies for sustainable environment – waters, waste, energy for circular economy“ (Clean&Circle) for creation and development of a Centre of Competence

Assoc. Prof. Husein Yemendzhiev, researcher at the Centre of Competence “Clean Technologies for a Sustainable Environment – Water, Waste, Energy for a Circular Economy” and Deputy Chair of the Clean&Circle association, took part in the panel discussion “Green Solutions for Bulgaria – Investing in a Sustainable Future” at the Green Transition Forum 2025. The panel, organized in partnership with the MOVE.BG platform, brought together leading experts, innovators, and entrepreneurs in the field of sustainable development.

The discussion focused on opportunities for the accelerated implementation of circular economy principles in Bulgaria and the Central and Eastern European region. Participants addressed the need to build strong partnerships between the public sector, business, and the scientific community in order to create real, applicable solutions with long-term impact.

In his remarks, Assoc. Prof. Yemendzhiev presented the work of the Clean&Circle Centre of Competence, including specific applied research projects related to technological innovations for sustainable water, waste, and energy management. He emphasized the crucial role of scientific research and cross-sector collaboration in building a sustainable, low-carbon economy where waste becomes a resource and water is treated as a strategic asset for the green transition.

Other panelists included leading representatives from Bulgaria’s sustainable business sector: Angela Ivanova (LAM’ON), Vladimir Gechev (Viverde Straw Modules), Maria Alexandrova (Nasekomo), and Dimitar Filipov (Aqualid Ltd.), with the discussion moderated by Ana Doneva, project lead at MOVE.BG.

Clean&Circle’s participation in the Green Transition Forum 2025 marks another step toward affirming the role of the scientific community as a key driver of innovations applicable in the real sector and an effective partner in implementing sustainable development policies.
